Tried something.
I wanted to power a 1 Watt Led chip, but I didn’t have a Led driver or a constant current source at hand.
So I thought that a constant voltage source could also do the job.
I used a Dc-Dc stepdown converter MP1584EN which can regulate 4.5V-28V down to 0.8V-20V.
It works perfectly and is still better than just using a resistor.
Thought this would be interesting information. Also, these Dc-Dc converters are cheaper than constant current sources.

Connect an input voltage of 5-25V to the MP1548 and adjust the output voltage down to 3.2V using the trimmer on the module. Now connect the high power LED. As you can see, it works.
I let this blue led run for 3 days without any problems.
