Since I’ve been on a bit of a clock trip lately, and these little things are really tiny, I decided to create a test board for these two chips, the Epson RX8900 and the RX8130.
Now I have the opportunity to get to know these ICs better 🙂

The Datasheets

The PCB

I had the circuit board made. With the help of my laser cutter, I lasered the stencil from an overhead foil and from 4mm plywood wine holder.
This works very well, and after applying the solder paste, the whole thing was soldered in an old pizza oven.

The Software

I will then publish the test results and the corresponding software here. The RX8900 has 3.4ppm and the RX8130 5ppm

Updates will be posted on my Github as always https://github.com/awall9999/RTC-Test-Board
